Difference between a 98 "350" and a 99 "350"

I have a 98 GMC serirra and I put a 99 GMC serirra
motor  in to it and for some reason I get a weird
crack or pop when it idles. Is there a difference in
the ecm? Or a difference in motors?

No there should not be a difference. Did all the plugins connect to all the sensors? A crack and pop indicates timing and or a fuel problem.
