where is the ac belt located?
My mechanic says that changing the ac belt will fix my non-working air-conditioning. If it is not broken, why would it need replaced and where can I locate it to inspect it myself?
Sounds like a crock, these have a serpentine belt, not a separate AC belt if memory serves. It would be located on the passenger side of the eng. compartment. If you see a pulley with no belt around it, it's possible it's missing.
The only way that `changing the belt`will fix the ac is if the wrong belt was installed at some point and it wasn`t long enuf to go around the compressor pulley. The other post is correct in saying that it is a serpentine belt and that if you see a pulley without a belt on it, then the belt does need changing because it is the wrong one. If the belt is driving the compressor and the ac still doesn`t work, I would change mechanics if I were you.
