2004 PT cruiser with 108,000 miles. Check engine light on

Asked by Oct 20, 2016 at 05:01 PM about the 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

check engine light has been on for a year.  had lots of work done at Chrysler dealership a year ago.  now trying to pass DC inspection and codes are O2 sensors (both).  Took to aamco to have replaced - but light will not go off.  car runs hot sometimes too.  I am so sad and feeling blue.   I trust aamco and know that they will do all they can - but we don't have much more money to put into the car.  Seemed as if dealer was only interested in convincing us to give her up last year and purchase new vehicle.  I have been reading about many folk having this check engine issue with cruisers.

Sounds like you need a "live data" scan performed, the tech can then see in real time just what the sensors are doing and the computers response to those readings, then he will know what has to be done to correct the problem.
