2004 PT cruiser with 108,000 miles. Check engine light on

Asked by micvan Oct 20, 2016 at 05:01 PM about the 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

check engine light has been on for a year.  had lots of work done at Chrysler dealership a year ago.  now trying to pass DC inspection and codes are O2 sensors (both).  Took to aamco to have replaced - but light will not go off.  car runs hot sometimes too.  I am so sad and feeling blue.   I trust aamco and know that they will do all they can - but we don't have much more money to put into the car.  Seemed as if dealer was only interested in convincing us to give her up last year and purchase new vehicle.  I have been reading about many folk having this check engine issue with cruisers.

Have to get you hands on a tool that tells you which bank it's on that's how you know bank 1 one side bank 2 other side which ever side its on. Then do this other which it will drive you crazy lights stay on after cleared... so clear codes then on my PT cruiser 2005 what worked for me I took the gas cap off replaced the fuel pump relay and the ASD relay and it started had to drive it about 70 miles for the light to stay off after all was cleared this works for new 02 sensors as well to get the light to stay off. Pay it forward please Chrysler won't tell you this they point you to PCU... in some cases it may be PCU but not all I find it hard to believe. Hope it works!
