should i replace catalytic converter first if code pops up or find why... and how do i

fisrt misfire code comes up with engine lt.. so i replace coilpack and it stops then lt
comes on for catalytic converter

What was the catalyst code? Sometimes excess fuel can overcome a catalyst, I would take out on the open highway and do a few wide open throttle passes and see how much crud is blown out the exhaust first, then clear the codes and drive normally and see if the code comes back.
