Why only random misfire on right bank?

Asked by Bray13 Oct 20, 2021 at 01:53 PM about the 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V6

Question type: General

I have a 2006 ford explorer 4.0l with random misfires on the right bank. Have
just changed boyh catalytic converters, all four O2 sensors, and the knock
sensor. Intake gasket is tight, fuel pressure is good. Right cat heating up to
at least 100 degrees more than the left. When on the road, it will miss, spit,
sputter and all of a sudden just take off.Gas mileage has gone to crap.
Burning half a tank in about 75 miles.  I've exhausted all avenues and no one
can tell me what it may be. Can anyone here help?

It probably needs a PCM it’s very common for those to go wrong… and all them parts u replaced sounds like it needs a PCM… there are places that rebuild them

FYI, the wires for the upstream O2 sensors were crossed, left to right. So, the right O2 sensor was plugged into the left plug and vice versa.
