Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased a 2002 Ford Explorer "As Is" , but anyways the problem is
that w/o any warning while i'm driving the vehicle just stops everything
shuts down and the gear has gotten stuck and I could not get it into
Park...The engine would not turn over when I tried to start it and new
altenator has been installed the starter is fine the transmission is fine, the
battery has been tested as well by a few mechanics but no one seems to
know what the problem could be...I need help, also the last time when my
vehicle stalled someone came and started it up in Neutral and it has been
running fine since, but i'm afraid it will stop again...This is dangerous any
suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

May have a ECM issue, has it been scanned for codes?

I have a 2005 and I found out that they are set up to do that if your in danger of burning out your engine. I have radiator problems and was losing water and it started shutting down.
