02 Ford Escape excelleration

Asked by Sep 08, 2016 at 11:28 AM about the 2002 Ford Escape XLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 02 escape v6. I have had
problems with it excellatering on its own
for several years. I have had all recalls fixed
and just five months ago I had died replace
the idler sensor because that's what they
said was wrong. It is now doing it again.
Every time I am in park it revs up to 8000
rpm until I shut it off. It is now doing it
when I  driving or just at a stop light. I was
going to give this vehicle to my daughter
who just started driving but forget it now.
Does anyone have any suggestions of
what else it could be?  I can't afford
anything else right now.

This vehicle needs to go to a competent mechanic. I seriously doubt that it is revving to 8,000 rpm.

Well it does and I have been driving it when it does. It goes until I shut it off and it doesn't stop.
