Check engine light and VSC light on

Asked by wingriderr Apr 08, 2019 at 10:17 PM about the 2006 Toyota Avalon Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have pre-owned 2006 Avalon Limited with 78k
miles on it. It runs smooth. 3 days back (after 200
miles drive) I found both the lights - Check engine
and VSC in ON condition.
I scanned it using OBD2 (Bluedirect) , below are the
error codes it displays:

1 Engine Trouble Codes:
• P0456: EVAP System Leak Detected (very small
leak)
3 Antilock Brake System Trouble Codes:
• C0200: Check report for description.
• C1201: Check report for description.
• C1223: ABS Control System Malfunction

Please suggest what should I do.

Thanks

I had the same problem in my 2006 Avalon’s. I just changed the cap gas from the dealer and disconnect the battery. Everything is good for more than one year. I am not sure if you have the same problem but try it the cap is only 35 dollars.

I had the same problem with my 2001 Toyota Avalon. The car has over 122K miles on it. The two VSC and check engine lights came on the other day. I took it to a couple shops that have worked on my car before - One tried to convince me that the air fuel sensor needed to be replaced sooner rather than later.(they mentioned it could affect the catalytic converter). The second one said that it's not affecting the runability of the car. Basically, instead of the sensor taking 4 minutes to get "warmed" up, it's taking 2 minutes. If I do get it replaced now, should I just have the mechanic purchase the sensor or should I go to an O'Reilly or Auto Zone, purchase the part and then have a mechanic install the part? The first mechanic quoted me $480.00. However, after checking online, the part didn't seem to be that much so I'm not sure if the quote included both the part and labor. What's odd is that I had put gas in the car the day before the lights came on. Just a coincidence or are they somehow related?
