1984 Chevy corvette burning up alternators, anyone having this problem?
Just bought the car (two months ago), previous owner had just put in a new alternator and battery. Today I drove it and the Alternator has stopped working already
Probably going to be a short in the wiring system, hard to say where, but start by checking the voltage regulator,i think in this model it is not built in to alternator.
Check all the electrical connections at both the alternator and the battery. If the alternator is not hooked up to the battery correctly the alternator will constantly be running at maximum power and burn out quickly. I believe on yours there's a pigtail that goes directly from the alternator to the battery. Be sure everything is hooked up and hooked up correctly. Pay attention to the ground connections as well.
