Lexus rx300 ...turn key and get "dead zone"... Keep doing it and eventually turns over just fine

Was told there is a short wire harness
behind key ignition that is typical problem.
Is that so and if it is what is it referred as?

I looked at at least 4 websites and no mention of ignition or wiring harness being a problem, common or otherwise. The main complaint is the transmission, and not many of those.
