If you drain and fill the transmission every 15k miles you will have no problems. My RX is currently sitting at 199k miles, runs like new, shifts silky smooth! My uncle's RX has 480k miles on it, and it drives just as nice as mine. Original drivetrain on both of our cars. Suspension Bushings, fuel pump, alternator, window regulator are not common problems, not sure where you are getting that. I have over 4,000 post on club lexus and I promise you those are not common problems. Timing Belt and Water Pump are not problem items. They are to be replaced every 90k miles according to the manual. It is not a problem, it's just the design and many auto manufactures actually recommended changing at 60k miles so you should be glad you can wait till 90k miles. A chain is louder than a timing belt, so I'd take the belt any day. Lamps going out can happen on any car. The only common lamp that goes out is the "D" light on the dashboard. Not really a big deal at all. For more information post at http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-first-generation- 182/

My 2002 RX300 Coach (grey) has just over 117K miles and drives like a dream. The only expensive problems I have had are the power windows. One has been replaced ($800) and two others are starting to act up. They are easy to reset but that eventually does not work. The large sunroof motor and the entire assembly now needs to be replaced due to build up of grease and shavings from the cable wrap in the gearing. The gearing is worn down and will not open/close window on demand (or at all). It is a $4,000 expense so I have opted to leave it closed for the of its life with me! As stated above, all the other "problems" are normal wear and tear. Even power windows wear out with time. My Passat had the same window issues. A manual override would be nice! With continued, scheduled maintenance this car will keep you happy for many years to come. I would closely review the last owner's service records to ensure all was done at correct intervals. Buy it low enough to replace the window motors as they come to end of life.
