Dome lights will not come on

Isn't there a switch ON the domelight itself? Does this one come on when the door is opened? Is it doing something now that it did not do before?
We just bought the van 2 days ago, so we are just trying to figure things out. The lights have a "button" on them that you push to come on, but they do not come on when pushed. No lights come on when the door is opened. Thanks for your quick response.

the domelight bulb is an easy creature, like a little hotdog with metal ends. this should pop out with no tools-

look at the translucent rectangle above your head, it will contain a bulb with a burned out filament.

gave you ten points, just for shits and giggles~
Burnt bulbs. Come on now. You don't need to ask that on any kind of forum or thing like that. It's common sense.

You know dude, it MAY NOT be as simple as a burnt filament. It's just a guess, by your old guru pal, bob_nueske- she's new to this truck and hasn't figured everything out yet.
Interior lights are strangely wired. There is a hot wire that always has power on it. That's the one with the fuse on it. There is a ground wire which is used when the dome or map reading light light is set to "On". The third wire is the ground potential from the from the Body Control Module (BCM). This is the wire that varies the voltage to fade the lights out at the end. When the lights are on, that ground is zero volts. When the lights are off, that wire is at 12 volts. Since there is 12 volts on both sides of the lamp, no current flows. When The lights are dimming, that wire has the potential between zero and 12 volts. --- Make sure the dome switch is not off. Try turning the lights on by using the dash dimmer control, the dome light control and the door opening.
in that case it needs a solid ground under lens cover

Im not going to argue with the gurus but as a side note some of those econolines have a dome light bypass button that kills the lights to the dome upon entry and wont allow the lights to come on in any way until this switch is reperessed. If there is one it wont be a noticable switch due to it just looking like another piece of molded dash plastic it will usually be black by the lights switch and be marked with a lightbulb picture with a single line through it if it is not there then my guess would most likel be a bulb issue. In the instance that there is 2 or more lights not comming on it could more likely be a wiring issue. Just start with the easiest scenario and trouble shoot ur way through

see that right from the owner of one ,that helps cuz all makes have little quirks, you never always know so every shot is actually helpfull .good or bad ,thats how you learn .carry on!

...yeah, by getting your ass kicked and losing all credibility...all at once!
your doing fine ! nobody gets a prize!
I had opposite problem with not being able to turn light off. Found out the knob that turn on head lights can turn to dim dash light and turn of on interior light
In my case my interior lights won't come on when the doors are shut, even though they both have switches. They only come on when the doors are open. Any way to fix that?
1998 F-250 my dome light functions properly the two map lights on either side of dome light wont come on...oh yes ,I've checked the bulbs.gonna try and check fuse if they are even fused.I hate electrical problems
