How do I check transmisson fluid on a 1998 ford Taurus station wagon se

Warm the car up, then put into park, engine on, car on level surface. Open the hood and pull the dipstick on the driver side near the firewall. Should be a yellow end. Pull it out, wipe and reinstall. Should be in- between the cross hatched area and red in color. Add through the hole with a funnel a little at a time if low. Recheck the level between adding. If it is brown and smell burnt, have it changed.
