my miata starts fine but reuses to accelerate. Sounds lke timing off but everything done to spec.. suggestions

Yep, exactly what I was gonna say. You can get some cat cleaner if its not too late (Royal Purple makes some,) or pull it off and try the soaking it in lacquer thinner trick, put in a test pipe, or a replacement cat. Be sure to replace the O2 sensors at the same time. That's often the reasons cats go bad in the first place.... out of tolerance, worn out O2 sensors.
