Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i had taken my most loved T and C to have the power steering unit
replaced because of a bad leak.  My mechanic called me after he had my
van for a few hours and told me it would not start , nothing , not the battery
he could not find anything wrong . i drove it there it started and ran just ,
like always, now it wont even click like a dead battery he said its doing
nothing . He was very confused and was wondering if i knew what to do.  of
course i did not ..... but hes a very smart and resourceful man and he went
on this wed site and it was all right there ... now i on the other hand was
very upset with him ... i felt he might have broke my van... it never  EVER
did anything like that before.  then i read all of this .... so now , months
later, i have had every type of problem with my sweet van .   and i can not
find anyone to fix it ... they all want to charge me an outrages amount to
replace the cluster, the full wiring harness , and many more expensive
things .... but not one mechanic will solder the dam thing for me ..... i have
watched the video on U tube and i feel i can do it myself .  Maybe,,,,
anyway i am still driving it and i suppose i can continue to drive it as long as
it lasts , BUT, not having a speedometer sometimes can prove a bad thing
,, Anyway i am going to attempt it next week , by myself ,  is there anything
anyone can tell me that i may need to know .. i am a little intimidated by the
looks of all the wires under there and i can only hope and pray that i can
complete this little job without destroying my favorite car ever.  any and all
suggestions will truly be appreciated ... wish me luck

good luck to you..it takes courage and resilience, and emotional resources. a spare car is really good or a ride as needed . if you have never soldered i suggest you find a way to practice it some beforehand . i had a car with this problem before i found the story and had to just replace it , so , keep me posted and , good luck...ps my dash lites have been flickering , wonder if that is a bad sign
