I have a1971 olds cutlass driving home last night headlights went out all the rest of lights still working is there a fuse or what's going on

Check the headlight grounds and make sure they are clean and tight then the lamp sockets, make sure they aren't burnt through, if all of that checks good then the problem is most likely the headlight switch, there is a built in circuit breaker, after it cools down the headlight will work again until it gets too hot and opens back up.

There's a fuseable link down by the starter for the headlights. Check that. I had the exact same thing happen to me many years ago on my '78 Eldorado. That's what it was. HTH. -Jim
