2001 chevy express van instrument cluster problem. will that effect the transmission?
It could actually cause shifting problems if it's wired anything like a '95 Grand Am I worked on recently. The gauge cluster was bad so the vehicle went into "Limp Mode" causing the car to stay in 1st most of the time, occasionally shifting to 2nd under the right conditions.
Jonathon, Thanks for your response. I'm worried about driving to the dealership to have repaired, because I feel like the transmission will be destroyed before I get there.
If it has the symptoms I described you will be fine driving to the dealerships as long as you keep an eye on the tach. and temp. gauges and the speed limit doesn't go above 45 or so for too long. If it does, use your flashers and you should be fine, or just get someone to tow your rig.
