remove ignition key 1970 GTO

I installed tilt steering column  in my 1970 GTO  to finish my insulation I  
installed new ignition cylinder. I can turn switch on but I ca not turn off and
remove key.   What am I doing wrong

I'm guessing you got a used column that someone said was compatible with your "70 GTO. And you got a new ignition cylinder for your car. You need to check that they are absolutely compatible, and not different, which I suspect is your problem. The cylinder isn't mating up with something inside the column, or the cylinder isn't mating up with the switch.
