Shift stick moving freely in van and van wont move

Asked by Crystal Oct 11, 2020 at 12:49 AM about the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My husband was backing up and then the shift
stick wouldn't move and then I don't know if I
broke or what but now it just moves freely in
the van won't move. So the snow stick is just
moving freely but not actually moving so what
could he messed up and how much would it
cost me

Theres linkage that connects the snow stick to the transmission. One of the clips or pins came out/off. Have your hubby crawl under there while you move the stick back n forth, hopefully its in a spot you can reach/fix
