Oil life

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Got my oil changed about a month ago. Oil
life was at 25%. After the oil change the oil
life was still at 25%. It is now at 13%.
Every other time I have gotten an oil
change , after I get one the oil life goes
back up to 100%. Very confused why it did
not this time. Is this bad for my car? And
what does it mean?

Most service centers reset the life indicator, in your case it sounds like it wasn't reset when the oil was changed, so now if it is reset it will be off some, so just go by the mileage sticker they usually put on and change it is due, and make sure they reset the life percentage next time. It is not bad for your car as long as you keep the oil changes on time. If you don't get it reset you could get a warning that tells you that service is needed. HTH
