What originally passed through the empty body grommets on this 1972 VW Beetle?
Thanks guys! Opinion as to why they are now empty?

Check out that site with all the engine pictures in your air hose question. You might spy some wires or cables going through there. Unless someone has a 1972 Beetle in the driveway, they won't know what they were for.
