My friend is offering to sell me his 1994 Mecedes E420...

...except not really an E420. He swapped the motor for one out of the 94 E500 (5.0 L V8,
a bit over 100K miles) and also swapped the leather interior. The car is also lowered a bit
and has Brabus wheels and rolled fenders along with stiffer suspension. He was a Benz
mechanic and this was his project car for a little while. He is offering to sell it for
$4000...so I'm wondering how just how good (or bad) of a deal this? Bad, average, once in
a lifetime? The car has minor things wrong with it, but overall she is clean looking and
runs strong.

Cool car and even cooler engine swap! If your looking for a fun weekend toy/project car/second car I say yes. If your needing an easy everday low cost/regular fuel/reliable driver then no. If you do pull the trigger I would offer $3200 and maybe end up some where in the middle, pending he has all the paperwork showing all the work done.
