the car will rin at idle but if u give it gas it will bog down and then catch back up

try changing fuel filter or could be a bad throtle poisition sensor,may want to have a scan done.

You don't mention what year, if it is carbureted could be a problem with the float bowl, or it could be a transmission issue with torque convertor if automatic trans. Need more info to answer this.
