I have a 2001 volkswagon jetta 1.8 turbo. The transmission is shot. Can I replace it with a regular 1.8 L or does it have to be the 1.8 L?

Manual or automatic?

It's an automatic

I believe any MKVI 4cyl automatic EXCEPT the diesel will work. If there's a european salvage yard near you, they have compatibility charts to answer this stuff.
