why does engine light flash when accelerating to get on highway. Replaced coil already

A flashing check engine light is warning you that the engine is misfiring and damaging the catalytic converter. Sounds like you're misfiring under load. Give your Jetta a full tune up. That'll most likely solve the problem. HTH. -Jim


The spark plug wires could also be a culprit. They last around 100,000km or 60,000 miles. Best to replace the whole set. Should cost around $150 for some quality OEM ones
