Front driver window will not roll up or down.

Asked by Tommy Nov 27, 2011 at 02:15 AM about the 2003 Saab 9-3

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The front window will not roll up or down. It does make a noise, like the switch is trying to power the window. I can pull the window up manually, by placing my hands on either side of the window, but it still 'falls' down. Suggestions, advice?

Hi, window problems on Saabs are pretty common. Many are usually related to window regulator failures but I suspect yours may be attributed to window roller (green roller) failures. When the regulator fails the window typically begins to go up and down crooked and when the green rollers fail the window will fall into the door. Hence, one possibility is that your plastic roller that slides along the bar has snapped. You have to replace it otherwise the next time you close your door, the whole window will fall into the door.

If you have the 'cable and rail' regulators: the clips (connecting the cable to the glass and guiding the glass on the rail) commonly break. If you have the 'scissor style' regulator: the green rollers (running in channels) break. Both in stock. Visit: www.regulatorfix.com

If you have 'scissor style' front regulator: you need the 'guide roller'. If you have the 'cable style' front regulator, you need the pair of clips. Both here: http://regulatorfix.com/index.php?Make=Saab&Model=9- 3&Year=0&osCsid=613524529885e0770af5a9816593ea4f

If the other windows all work, it could also be the driver window switch itself.
