Did you perform a tuneup lately?

How old is the fuel, sounds it's been sitting outside awhile and there is possible water in the tank. Add some dry gas if you suspect there is.

It's a full tank of fresh gas

Then start with the basics, air filter, spark plugs and wires, clean the throttle body, fuel filter, etc. So no CEL light?

She said the light was on for a misfire but then when it stalled she killed the battery
