About 2004 Buick Century
Perhaps because its typical driver is in the age range of anywhere from 60-80 years old, the Buick Century hasn't felt the need to jazz up its exterior or interior looks. As long as it gets the driver from point A to B comfortably, inexpensively, and with a modicum of luxury, it will remain a popular choice for both personal and family car owners. But the roomier and more upscale LeSabre has passed the Century in popularity for the first time, prompting a return of bundled option packages. Still, the 2004 Buick Century does not see the need for any drastic changes. New this year is standard 4-wheel disc brakes and an improved audio system. Nothing that rocks the mid-sized boat too much. The 2004 Century comes in one trim that's available with three different packages. All are powered by a 175-hp, 3.1 V6 and 4-speed automatic, and sit on 15-inch wheels. There is seating for five with the optional front bucket seats, or six with the standard two bench setup. A fold-down center console provides extra storage, and optional split-folding rear seats open up the 16.7 cubic foot trunk. The Standard Package is the base model, with power features, a CD player, and dual-zone climate control. As you move up to the Custom and Limited Packages, you get power front seats, cruise control, leather upholstery, and wheel-mounted audio controls. Dual front airbags are standard, but side impact bags come only with leather-equipped cars, and ABS brakes and traction control will cost you extra. The 2004 Century has no pretenses at winning design contests, but it is a reliable, affordable, and reasonably well-equipped entry-level sedan. Owners say you get a lot for your money, and they like the 20/30 mpg, and smooth and quiet ride. The trunk capacity is another highlight, but the overwhelming praise went to interior comfort, especially on long trips. There are few complaints about the 2004 Century. They mostly concern its bland styling, lack of standard ABS, and the soft suspension.
