i have a 70 thunderbird with 429thunderjet smokes when first starts and when idle and take off puffs smoke and clears been sitting for 5 years

What color is the smoke? White smoke can just be ordinary condensation that clears up when the car is warm. Black smoke is the car running to rich and blue smoke is oil burning.
