i have a 1987 s10 pickup ,2 wheel drive that i put a new fuel pump and assembly in but the fuel pump wont kick on ,and im getting power to the plug on my pump ,any advice would be greatly appreciated

if there is power to the pump then the pump is bad... are the grounds ok?

its a new pump,i hooked the old pump straight to the battery just to check and it popped right on

I have a 1978 Chevy S10 lately idle had been intermittently 'studdering' changed plugs, rotor cap level ground runs like a champ, but, a slight vertical climb it goes into studdering mode. Any suggestions plz.
