I have a 1980 Chevy caprice

I have a 1980 Chevy caprice will not SHIFT in any GEAR.
Got linkage fix gear is moving from park to the L1 but will
not go in reverse drive are, N. Just sitting like its in stuck in
park why im moving the gear and hitting the Gas ?????

Most likely the transmission is shot. GMs of that period, especially the full sized models, had the underpowered THM 200 or THM250 that always failed! Reverse was the first to go. Replace the transmission with a THM 350 and you'll be good to go. Hope that helps! Jim
