Can find oil leak
I have had my car to three repair places and have
spent 1600 on this oil leak. I have had the o RI g on
the distributor done. The oil pan gasket and the
timing chain done last year. One person is telling
me the timing chain is where the oil leak is coming
from, onenis telling me it's the valve cover, and
then onenis telling me it my head (this is most
scary) my car is a 91 toyota camery. Can anyone
help me on where this leak might be coming from
please I am at wits end with this and can't afford a
Is it leaking from the left, right, or towards the firewall? if leaking from the timing belt side it may be the crank shaft seal. If leaking from the transmission side (right as you look at it from the front) it may be the rear main seal. If leaking from the firewall side, I would suspect valve cover gasket. There's also the oil pump seal which can leak (also located on the timing belt side). You can watch several videos on youtube for the different installs. Rear main seal would be the most expensive due to the fact that the transmission has to come out.
A lot of people on this forum will disagree with me on what i am about to recommend but try adding some Lucas Engine Stop Leak no promises that it is going to work but it is worth a try. Worked for me when I had a oil leak that I could not figure out.
What engine is in this vehicle 4 or 6 cylinder? Did your mechanics add a DYE to the engine oil.....then check for the leak?
Make sure your PCV valve is not clogged. A replacement is cheap. Check the hose to it for a kink as well.
