2000 Automatic Audi A4 drives fine for about 10 minutes then struggles to pick up speed
eg. after coming to a stop and going again, car will have a hard time getting up to 60 kph. fixes after i turn the car off/on again but then process repeats after 10-15 minutes.
I leave home to travel for work, 5 minutes in im on the motorway and get up to 120kph and the car then stops picking up power and takes a very long time to go to 140. Other days it gets to 140 effortlessly. Also notice it when i come to a stop at a junction for example, it will take about 10-15 seconds to reach 60kph from a stop.
No idea whats wrong. any ideas? if you need more info let me know.
Car: 2000 Audi A4 - Automatic - 1.9 tdi - 180,000 miles on the car. Well maintained, just started happening a few weeks ago.
If check engine light is on, you should have the codes read. Will save you from replacing random parts. You may just have a dirty MAF or Mass Air Flow sensor. You can buy some cleaner at the auto store and spray it down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MvwltSrRTE
Thanks for answering, but no lights on the dash are lit up, and a new MAF sensor put into it last year, cleaned and still no improvement with car performance.. Is there anything else it could be?
Does it feel like it's misfiring or it just has no power? If no power it may be bad injectors. Just for fun, unhook your MAF and see if the problem goes away. You can drive the car with it unplugged.
