3.8L broken belt tensioner bolt
1992 3.8L v6 broke the belt tensioner bolt. Is the aluminum block that the belt
tensioner mounts to (about 2" thick) removable. It looks like it is being held to
the block by 3 x 15mm nuts on studs?
google some pics of that motor to see what you're dealing with .

I will try tomorrow! the only way to see what I am dealing with is in a mirror. 4" only between motor and frame of the car. I cannot find a parts breakdown picture on the web for the front of this motor. I have searched everywhere that I can think of incl.youtube. The local mechanic turned down the job too tough.....help pls.
is there any part of the bolt sticking out ? It's worth a shot if you can get vise grips on it .
No, it is about 1/4 inch below the surface. I have tried a flex drill extension and can barely scratch the bolt. Not enough room for a 90 degree adaptor. I called a ford garage and they don't have an IPB that shows if that block is removable. Think I will just try...what choice at this point? Tried welding didn't work!
FYI Thay aluminum block did come off by those 3 nuts and I have it off so I can now remove the broken bolt. End of story!
great , I had a 99 taurus and I replaced two tensioner pullys in four years ,now we know.
