2019 Equinox sat too long, won't start

Asked by Guru951VSS Jan 09, 2021 at 04:30 PM about the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Due to covid, I didn't start my Equinox for too long, so now
it won't start. Have a 8 amp battery charger I let sit on it (a
bit yesterday, a bit more today) until it said it was charged.
TRied to start the car, but it (which is further than it has
gotten lately btw) says to press brake to start (which I'm
doing) and that the battery is low to start the car (it never
said this previously).
Do I just need to keep putting it on the 8 amp charger until
it says charged again, try again, over and over. The charger
has a 2 amp setting also fyi.

Are you saying it cranks good but won't start or the starter motor won't even crank the engine? You can use digital multimeter across battery posts, everything off, the generic spec for a full charge is 12.6 volts. If much below that, need to charge. Battery connections all good? With meter leads still touching battery posts, have helper turn key to crank, how much does the reading drop or does it drop at all? have you tried jumper cables or jump box? now, if it cranks good but won't start, then you check the basics, spark--proper fuel pressure--fuel injector pulse--applicable trouble codes. If battery voltage is lost, it can effect your security system. It just depends on what is going on. Just my opinion.
