Why wont my 2015 Kia Optima start?

Asked by SammieKay May 20, 2020 at 11:56 PM about the 2015 Kia Optima

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car cut off while I was driving. The battery is new and all connections are
fine. All the fuses are good. I put a code reader on it but its not throwing any
codes. When I put the key in all the lights come on but nothing else happens.
the ignition doesnt make a sound, no clicking or anything.

Currently having my engine replaced due to a safety recall. Car cut off while driving and would not start again. It's a 2013 kia optima. Thankfully kia had put a lifetime warranty on mine and other engines. I didn't know until I towed it to the dealership. Check for recalls

Not sure of all the details, but I do know there's an open recall on 2013 Kia Optimas, something about debris left over from manufacturing not being removed and getting caught in the oil passages. If you call Kia or a local Kia dealership, they'll be able to tell you. Even if you don't have a problem yet, they can address whatever is under recall at no cost

Thanks Sarah I stopped by dealership and they said it was due to the recall and they are replacing the engine
