dead battery

Asked by Sep 19, 2014 at 10:06 AM about the 2014 Mazda MAZDA3

Question type: General

My battery needed jumping on my new Mazda 3.  Since the lights go off automatically when the ignition is off, how can this happen?

Your Mazda has DRL, daytime running lights, that will turn on whenever car is running, and off when you shut car off. I am unaware that Maxda has a feature that will turn the lights off if you have them on manually at the switch, but please correct me if I am wrong.

https://www.mymazda.com/MusaWeb/pdf/manuals/2014_MAZDA3_O M.pdf -I stand corrected. They DO shut off when car is turned off, but on Chapter 9 Page 12 this can pe personalized, from 0 seconds to not at all turn off. Make sure you have them set to go off, meantime if you already do, and the battery still drains overnight your 2014 should still be under warranty

I have a 2013 and I am now on my 4th battery and it has been in the shop 6 times for the same issue. i drive 5,000 miles a year and Mazda's response is to either hook up the car to a trickle charger every night or pull the fuse on the computer every night so there is no drain... What a great solution

Vandura_3644, it seems we have the same issues here. Dealership just replaced the battery for 200 bucks. What a scam.
