As you have replaced the battery 6 times, it is not the battery! It would appear that your vehicle usage is draining the battery in a period of 6 months. This can be one of three things :- Parasitic Drain Over-use Charging circuit fault Parasitic drain is determined by measuring current between battery and cable. It should be less than 0.5A with the vehicle completely OFF. If it is not, then something is using electricity. To find out what it is, you leave the multimeter connected and remove each fuse in turn. When the current falls substantially you have found the offending circuit. This is typically done as an initial test by the dealer. Over-Use 1. Batteries do not charge on short journeys. If you are making many short journeys, or stopping and starting the vehicle frequently, this will drain the battery. Also sitting in slow moving traffic or city driving can reduce the battery's chance to re-charge. Are you using your vehicle for deliveries? This will kill a battery. You can buy a trickle charger that you hook up after work. CAUTION ! VW cars are sophisticated computer controlled machines. Attaching and detaching charging cables can place an electrical spike on the system and damage a computer. 2. Are you charging any accessories that did not come as standard with the vehicle. Often times, things such as after market amplifiers, charging docks, heaters, or sitting with the engine running for extended periods, can cause battery drainage. 3. If you have discounted the above, I would suspect that the charging circuit is not completely effective. Autozone can check this for you using their tester. Loose serpentine belts, bad alternators, and defective charging electronics can cause this fault. VW should be able to help you here too. Good luck and MTFBWY !
