Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 2011 surburban with a 5.3 in it the oil pressure starts around normal
then after idleing for awhile it starts to drop to around what i would assume to
be like 2 or 3 not quite on 0 but really close. when I press the throttle the
pressure build but as soon as I let off the throttle the pressure drops back
down to 0 i dont really hear anything up top but i dont let it run much
because i dont want to cause any damage

First check the oil level. You could have a bad oil sending unit or a plugged oil sender screen. There is also a chance your engine is worn out. How many miles on the engine?

I hope that works for you. If it does not your engine is probably worn. You could replace the oil pump but it may be a waste of money.

so i just got back from work i drove it to work to see how it would do. When the engine is cold oil pressure is none existent but after the engine is warmed up or started to warm up the pressure is better i feel it maybe still lower than normal running pressure but its at least 35 to 40 it bounces here and there but never plunges to 0 or sky rockets so im hoping that the new one and filter will make it level out and run smooth
