To long cranking before fires up
I have an E34 520i , 24 valves vanos , when the engine is cold it cranks to long till fires
up, but when engine reached the function temperature it fires up right away, no mater the
outside temperature, but even if cranks long after it starts the angine runs good idlle is
good only at accelerations until it warms up the engine holds back like no power , but
after it warms up runs like a dream, please gibe me a hint? Engine check shows code 79
and tells crankshaft sensor or oxigen sensor!,,,,,,, wat could it be? Thanks
Change the offending crankshaft sensor and O2 sensor and test drive. Maybe check distributor(unless fuel injected-check injectors and spark plugs and ignition coils. Could be fuel delivery related too. Sorry I'm an E39 guy. good luck though.
I have an e39 with this issue. On cold start (overnight) it cranks for a couple seconds too long.
