The sockets and wiring get too hot and melt/burn up to point it corrodes, falls apart, etc. I’ve had to replace my friends bulbs twice and now the socket and wiring. The sealed enclosed gets WAY too hot. Very poor design, from a company like GM should never happen and not to own up to it with a recall is disgraceful to customers. “It’s a SAFETY issue”.

How do you get the socket out of the vehicle in that tight spot? I can barley get my hands in there to get the bulb out let alone the socket wiring

Through the wheel well. Remove the front half of the plastic cover to access the backside of the assembly from underneath. There will be 2 twist off caps 1 for low and other for high beam bulb. It's about a 1/8 to 1/4 turn. Low beam closet to fender is a twist and pull bulb. The high beam bulb pulls out straight back.
