What do you mean by real? Only way to know is to measure it on a dyno. You probably talking torque, (power to the rear wheels). Depending on your drivetrain/transmission, you will lose some, up to 20% if you have an automatic. Plus age/wear an tear of the engine and not tuned up, you will lose some too.

Well, well maintained w/ manual tranny, I hear the 305, factory rating is under rated. Do you believe so?

Actual real wheel HP changes every day. Way to many variables to give a single number. 97 can take a chip and be tuned on notebook computer in real time. Otherwise find a Dyno to run test on.
