Honda CR-V brake light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The passenger side brake light does not come on
when the brake pedal is pressed. I have already
checked the bulb and the fuse (interior box, #15),
and both are fine. Besides, could it be the fuse if
one side is still working? What else could cause
this? Should I replace the fuse anyway?

Get a test light and see if you have power to the socket, or plug- auto electronics 101- wiring diagrams are fun!

Which socket? I do have power. The tail light bulbs turn on when the night running lights are turned on. But for whatever reason, pressing the brake pedal does not activate the passenger side brake light.

Can you pull out the bulb & rotate it 180 degrees ? Do your turn signals work in either/ both directions ? What happens when you use the hazard lights ? Had any 'work' been done recently ? If one side works & the other doesn't, I'm thinking a faulty ground wire/connection is likely.

..also check if you have the right light bulb, it should have two filaments in it

^ Karmon is right , not only does the bulb need to be a ( # 7443 ), it's possible that a 'new' bulb is faulty . Try switching bulbs with the known working bulb just to verify it is not the bulb please. Also, if you removed the lens or anything else that could pinch a wire check for that too. If the fuse was never burnt out, I'm guessing it can't be too bad. If the socket doesn't have damage and the bulb is correct it's a connection or ground in my opinion. Sorry to repeat myself. Electrical problems are either very challenging or so simple (at least in my opinion) that it's easy to go straight to the worst case scenario too soon. I troubleshoot all the easiest & cheapest solutions first for process of elimination and then go to the more difficult possibilities. Good Luck !

Thanks for the responses. So if the bulb has two filaments, is one for the the running lights and one for the brake pedal?

..1 for the parking lights,1 for the brakes
