I believe the clicking sound is a relay for controlling your brake lights when you depress the brake which is most likely normal i believe your issue is the parking brake switch or more precisely the spring that retracts the parking brake to turn off the switch. Try pulling up on the parking break foot pedal while releasing it to make sure its all the way up if its not that light will be on from my experience the spring sometimes slips and doesn't retract it fully and it can easily be rewound while still attached to the car with some patience.
