engine will fire up  if fuel is poured into throttle body

1 Answer

I got a haynes repair manual down to OReillys auto parts for about 28 dollars. That thing is pretty smart. It walks you through trouble shooting and what things do. It also walks you through repairs. I recommend every man get a copy that is written for the year and model they have to work on. But heres my best guess about your problem. Check to see if you have power to your pump. No power.... No pumping. Check to see if you got garbage clogging up your pump filter sock and then if pump is good.. Check to see if you need a new fuel filter. Fuel filter may be cloged. There about 10 bucks down to OReillys Auto parts. If you have changed your filter; You also want to check for clogged tank vents or leaking gas lines. Check the tank for gas to make sure its not pumping water to the engine.Check to make sure your fuel injectors are clean and not clogged. After these checks are done you need to start looking at your E.C.M. and your emissions control systems. This is where you should have a Haynes manual handy. I am still learning those parts so I cant really go into emissions control with you. But I do know that the ecm is in control of air and fuel flow. Ecm units are about 100.00 at OReillys. Get the Haynes.. It tells you how to check your ecm and emission system. I hope I helped you.
