If I turn the key off on a 1998 ford escort the cooling fan comes on, the only way toshut it off so it will not drain battery is remove fuse. Replaced the relay, still turns on when key is shut off.
I am suspicious of your ignition switch, it may not be shutting off all of the circuits.
Its not the AC, Its the radiator fan, could that still be it. I will have my son look at the ignition switch though, thanks if you come up with any thing else please let me know.
The car shuts off just the cooling fan is still running.
Have you tried disconnecting the radiator fan switch? Some of those escorts had the fan circuits live all the time, so if the switch grounded out internally it would cause the fan to run until the battery was exhausted.
Thanks for the help, it was the control box, found under hood, seems most all is run through it, had to follow wires to find it, not an in-expensive part but fixed the problem, Thanks again
