Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey all, so i have a no crank no start situation.
Battery is brand new and is reading at 12.8v, the
starter is 3 months old, lights, radio etc light up
and work,  but no crank no start. Yesterday it was
struggling to turn over but would start, today it
wont turn over at all. I checked the intertia switch
thats as it should be. I don't think its the alternator
but i am in no way any kind of an authority on this
subject. Any help is much appreciated!

I think it's either your starter relay, starter solenoid, or (if it's a 5 speed) the clutch safety switch.

A very common issue with Ford's are engine ground. Check your battery cable ground to envine block. then pull starter back out and clean all rust/ oil dibree from both sides of starter to engine. If this fails? It will be a bad starter. Stay away from Napa and other cheap brands. Best option to have a used starter from junk yard rebuilt by a starter alt shop.

You have understand if your starter turns slowly or not at all? It is low voltage or battery has not enough amps to turn enging. This can be ground issues or bad starter.

You have understand if your starter turns slowly or not at all? It is low voltage or battery has not enough amps to turn enging. This can be ground issues or bad starter. You can do a home bench test on your starter by placing it on tok of your radiator and using another vehicle and jumper cables. ground starter to negative cables like your jump starting a car. Take you pos cable and touch the positive lead on your starter. The starter motor will spin right over. If you want to test bendix? Touch both small lead wire and positive lead to starter. N Both bendix and motor should kick over. Careful you dont get your fingers.caught. And hold on to the starter! She will jump out of your hands.
