I have a 97 dodge dskota 2wd v6 with a transmission with the numbers says 284-1 and the junk yard gave me 284-2 whats the difference and can I use it.

That is something to do with a towing-kit bracket. I looked everywhere I could think of. See this site and scroll down to page 6 and 7, look under 'Kit # on column on the right. http://roadmasterinc.com/bg_/bg_rmi_std.pdf

I don't even know for sure that chart is what the numbers 284-1 & 2 mean. Just the only thing that appeared. Now there is another site, where you can ask. May be a fee. Probably.
