Special indicates a higher trim level, as well as perhaps a larger engine, than the base model. Typically these badges are used to indicate higher-optioned cars.

The Special is a higher trim level. It also has body panels closer to the ground, that can be a pain in the snow. The Special also has dual exhaust and the engine puts out an extra 50 hp. This is done through the processors of the control module. The phisycal engine parts arthe same. some have an external EGR, some have an internal EGR and some have no EGR. Ontario Licensed Mechanic.
