My car feels weak on power everytime I put my foot down to the floor and sometimes it struggles to change gear! What should I do

1.7L.? If so how many miles on car and has timing belt been replaced. Should have been replaced at 110k. Oh and this is an interference engine. This means that if it jumps time or timing belt breaks you will bend some valves.
